![]() The creative talent a DJ has, shows in his ability to excite and inspire his audience. It's far from enough to just spin the “hottest” hits—a talented DJ can touch his audience and broadcast a message. This has been DJ Mixwell's credo from his very first days as a DJ, so he always enriches his hip-hop sets with inspirations for dancers. Mixed in between actual top hits technoid electrical vibes play hide-and-seek, or a classic from rock, pop, or dance music comes blasting around the corner and invites you to remember good old times like an old friend. It's almost funny, because Mixwell found his hip-hop through a rather traditional way: his key was a tape of the infamous 2 Live Crew. The crew's DJ—Mr. Mixx—had some of the most innovative scratches of the time, and young Mixwell was in awe. After that, every piece of vinyl had to be checked for it's turntablism potential. Mixwell's own potential, however, was too huge to be stuck to one genre, so he integrated the technical delight in playing of electronic music, and interesting tempi of other styles as well. Mixwell does a damn good job, ad it shows in his bookings. They range from elite clubs like P1 in Munich, or Sven Väth's club Cocoon, to parties with the likes of Eminem and high-class fashion labels—like Strenesse, Burton, and Enyce. Another impressive claim to fame are his liveshow abilities, which can be witnessed when Mixwell is on stage with Samy Deluxe, one of Germany's best MCs. From Rock am Ring to MTV's Campus Invasion, this team has seen all the German festival stages. To (almost) top things off, Mixwell is part of two of the most infamous DJ teams you can find in Germany. With Eizi Eiz a.k.a. Jan Delay he's Flashdance & Mixwell, and together with Samy Deluxe he forms the Deluxe Soundsystem. No stranger to studio work either, Mixwell has performed on record for artists like Samy Deluxe, Jan Delay, Ferris MC, and Denyo. 2006 saw his debut as a producer, when one of his beats ended up on Samy's mixtape The Big Baus Of The Nauf, and you can rest assured that it won't be the last beat you've heard from him. The sky's the limit, so they say, and Mixwell's sky is full of hybrid beats and slightly technoid styles. Yes, hip-hop can be this way!
